Sir Edward Grey to Mr. Lew Yuk-Lin.

HIS Majesty's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs presents his compliments to Mr. Lew Yuk-Lin, and has the honour to acknowledge the receipt of his note of the 7th instant respecting the question of the ratification of the International Opium Convention of the 23rd January, 1912.

In reply Sir E. Grey has the honour to inform Mr. Lew Yuk-Lin that His Majesty's Government are anxious to ratify the convention as soon as the adhesion of certain Powers, who have abstained, will make the convention, when brought into force, effective.
